After an impressive season in the Championship, Wolverhampton Wanderers are back in the Premier League for the first time in a while and Nuno Espirito Santo will be desperate to make sure that his first top-flight campaign in England ends is some glory.
Though they were one of the strongest sides in the Championship, strolling their way to the league title, they are in need of some improvements to the squad, if they are to compete with the best in the country on a regular basis. The Wolves are financially strong and are expected to land some exciting stars from all around Europe this summer.
But one player they are looking to sign from the Premier League is Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Born and brought up in Yugoslavia, the 23-year old first moved to England with Newcastle United in 2015. He saw them drop into the Championship in his first season, where he scored nine league goals. But thanks to Rafa Benitez, Mitrovic and his side helped the club back to the top flight in just a year.
The Serbian international was expected to make an impact on the Premier League but managed just six appearances in the first half of the season and was sent out on loan to Fulham in January. He took no time to establish himself in the first team at Craven Cottage, scoring 12 goals in 18 league starts in the second tier.
He helped Fulham back to the top flight but is now back with Newcastle United. He is currently busy on international duty in Russia, where he has been in impressive form, scoring against Switzerland recently. He is still 23 and has loads of time to improve on his game, so it does not come as a surprise that there are a number of suitors for him this summer.
It is understood that Nuno Espirito Santo is desperate to add some quality to his attack and sees Mitrovic as the right man to solve the problem for the long term. The Serbian is tailor-made for the English game and though needs to improve on certain areas of his game, is a genuine match winner on his day.
