The transfer window this summer will be quite crucial for Unai Emery at Arsenal. He should make sure that he has all the tools required for him to build a foundation at Emirates that can allow him to rule the club for years to come. The Gunners are desperate for their glory days and the former PSG boss should do what it takes to take them back to their best.
This has seen Arsenal linked with a host of stars for a move this summer and the latest name doing the rounds is Ever Banega.
A product of the Boca Juniors academy, the Argentine international is currently in Russia for the World Cup but does not seem like he will stay there for too long. He moved to Europe for the first time in 2008 with Valencia and though, was not consistent enough in Spain, was snapped up by Sevilla, back in 2014.
It was Unai Emery who brought him to Sanchez Pizjuan that year and the duo helped the La Liga outfit to consecutive Europa League titles before Emery shifted to France. This saw Banega sold to Inter Milan in 2016. However, just a year later, Sevilla decided to bring him back to Spain, as he turned into first-team star yet again for Los Hispalenses.
He registered five goals and five assists in all competitions last season and even at 31, was at the top of his game. A specialist over a dead-ball, Banega is not the strongest in the air but is a versatile midfielder who can control the game. He is confident with the ball at his feet, is quick to turn defence into attack, but can also drop deep when under pressure, adding numbers to the backline.
But he is more comfortable carrying the ball into danger areas, as his hold up play and skill allow him to wriggle out of tight spaces. With over 300 league appearances in European top flights throughout his career and 63 appearances for the national side, he is one of the most experienced players in his role in Europe at the moment and is a huge acquisition for Arsenal.

It was Emery who brought Banega to Sevilla so it does not come as a surprise that the former PSG boss is looking at him yet again. With reports suggesting that Jack Wilshere has decided to quit the club, Banega is more than an able replacement for the English midfielder, who has failed to hit the heights he has promised previously. It is understood that he has a release clause of just €20m and at that price, he is a no-brainer for Arsenal this summer.
