As per latest reports, Aston Villa‘s midfield star Jack Grealish is set to quit his boyhood club and would like to return to the Premier League. The Blue and Clarets came perilously close to qualifying for the top division but they missed out on it as they lost in the playoff finals to Fulham.
The club is currently going through a financial crisis and as a result, they will have to sell some of their prized asset and Grealish is certainly on top of that list. The 22-year-old is being linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and the north London side are currently the favourites to sign the midfielder.
Grealish was one of the standout players for Villa last season and played a crucial role in their push towards Premier League qualifications. The midfielder has been at the club since his childhood and has been a boyhood Villa fan. There has been an interest in the midfielder among other clubs for quite a while now but the Englishman has stayed put as of now. However, it seems like it is all about to change and from his career’s point of view as well, the 22-year-old needs to start playing in the Premier League to be taken more seriously.
Villa faithful will be dreading to see their star midfielder leave but one cannot blame the player as he is destined for big things and he is certainly good enough to play in the English top flight. Villa’s financial crisis is also one of the major reasons why he is likely to part ways with the club in the summer.
Apart from Spurs, there are other Premier League clubs who have shown an interest in the midfielder but as of now, it seems likely that he will join the North London club. Mauricio Pochettino is maybe looking for a backup option to Dele Alli and Grealish has all the potential to flourish in the Premier League.
Grealish is a technically gifted player and has the ability to go past defenders with ease. His dribbling skills in tight spaces are top notch and are often able to create space in dangerous areas. However, he needs to add more goal threat to his game and that is one of the areas he can improve on.
Spurs are set to play the waiting game in the transfer market as they are aware that Villa will look to sell their most sellable asset for good money. However, the time is not on their side as they need some quick funds and that is where Daniel Levy might take an advantage of the situation.
