Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Santos defender Junior Kingue ahead of a potential move this summer. According to recent reports, Spurs are monitoring the situation of the French youngster and could make a move for his signature during this summer transfer period.
The 19-year-old had trials with both Manchester United and Manchester City previously and has now caught the eyes of the Tottenham chiefs, who are eager to bring him to the English top-flight. The French wonderkid has also spent time with AFC Ajax, FC Twente and Feyenoord before plying his trade at Santos, on the recommendation of Brazilian legend Pele.
Some sources are now claiming that a move to Europe might be on the cards for the young Frenchman with Spurs being one of the clubs touted to snap him up in this off-season. The North London club have already sent scouts to catch him in action and monitor his progress in Brazil. However, a move is yet to materialise with a number of European clubs looking to recruit him this summer.
At the tender age of 19, Kingue has put in some dazzling displays for Santos over the past year which has not gone unnoticed by other clubs. Only time will tell whether he ends up making a big move to Europe this summer.
Pochettino’s side only managed to claim a third-place finish in the league but it was another season without any major silverware for the Tottenham fans. The Argentine manager needs to make some quality signings in the summer window so that his team can compete for some top honours in the upcoming campaign.
The potential addition of Kingue will definitely bolster Pochettino’s defensive options in the future. The North Londoners have some top quality defenders in their ranks such as Davinson Sanchez, Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld, Serge Aurier and Kieran Trippier who are all competing for a spot in Pochettino’s backline. The acquisition of Kingue will improve their team and add more competition for places within Pochettino’s squad.
