Italian news outlet, Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Real Madrid has agreed to a 5-year contract with Alisson Becker and are amid negotiations AS Roma over a final transfer fee. The Los Blancos have put forward a €50m bid with added bonuses but the Serie A outfit are asking for €80m.
Florentino Perez is expected to go back with a revamped offer worth €60m as he plots a new era in the Santiago Bernabeu after the departure of Zinedine Zidane. The latter in shocking fashion quit his role from management even after winning 3 Champions League trophies in a row.
Drama ensued with the Galacticos as Perez quickly found a replacement in Julen Lopetegui and in the process got him fired from his position as the Spain head coach. The 51-year-old was axed from his position just a couple days ahead of his country’s clash World Cup clash against Portugal.
Amid all the controversy, Madrid remains focused on bolstering the squad ahead of the 2018/19 campaign. The La Liga giants have been plotting a move for any one of the goalkeeping big guns from Europe – David De Gea, Thibaut Courtois and Alisson, throughout the 2017/18 season.
Keylor Navas has been a loyal and able figure in the Los Blancos club ranks but according to Perez, is not of the same pedigree of the aforementioned names. The Costa Rica international has made a few errors in the past season to raise questions of his abilities among the Madrid faithful.
Alisson, on the other hand, has enjoyed a breakout season with Roma, showcasing his skills till the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League. The Brazilian is expected to start for his country in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, ahead of Manchester City’s Ederson.
He is still only 25 and with Gianluigi Buffon quitting his position at Juventus, Alisson is now considered as one of the best keepers in the Serie A. Alisson will be able to answer the question at the Bernabeu that has been harbouring among the fans ever since Iker Casillas left the side in 2015.
A number of players have been rotated around the position but none could catch the flair of the Madrid academy product. Now the 6 feet 4-inch figure Brazilian will get the chance to captivate the audience with his world-class shot-stopping abilities.
