After a less than impressive season in the Scottish Premiership, Rangers are now a club in the ascendancy. They have given Steven Gerrard his debut stint as a manager and will now hope that the former UCL winning player, will get the Gers back to their best in years to come.
Gerrard has already started his summer recruitment and has added as many as six new faces to the squad from the previous season. But he should also keep an eye on players in the first team, that are linked with an exit. One such player, whose future in Glasgow remains a doubt is Alfredo Morelos.
The 22-year old only joined the club last summer from French side HJK and made an immediate impact on the squad. He was one of the most consistent players in the competitions, registering 14 goals in 29 league starts. He scored a total of 29 goals in all competitions and was the top scorer for the club, and one of the best players for them.
He was selected for the Colombian U20 side back in 2015 and his stint at Ibrox has now given him a chance to break into the senior side in the near future. At just 22, he has a prolific career ahead of him so it does not come as a surprise that a number of clubs are already interested in his services.
It is understood that Turkish giants Besiktas and Fenerbahce are both interested in his services while he received financially attractive offers from China in January, which he refused. His future has certainly been a talking point from the fans, who have a lot to look forward to, next season.
And they are now given a huge sigh of relief after one of his closest mates in the Rangers squad, Daniel Candeias revealed that he is expected to stay in Glasgow, beyond this summer.
The 30-year old also acts as Morelos’ interpreter and was quite confident that the youngster was not quitting the club any time soon. Speaking to the media recently, Candeias said, “Alfredo is important to Rangers and he is very happy now.”
“He is a young player and he has plenty of years ahead of him before he changes club,” he added.

This will come as a huge boost to the fans and the manager, who can now concentrate on other areas of the squad. Losing their top scorer from the last season could have been disastrous, as Gerrard would have had to start from scratch. But now, he can get his side to play to the Colombian’s strengths, getting the best out of the squad next season.
