Rangers are to be buoyed by the recent revelations over the transfer of Hibernian midfielder, John McGinn. When asked about the transfer speculations surrounding the 23-year-old the Hibs Chief Executive, Leeann Dempster said, “We don’t live and die by transfer fees. If we were to receive a transfer fee for a player of some significance, of course, that would be welcome.”
Earlier reports claimed that McGinn was weathering the rumour storms while away on international duty in South America. The 23-year-old was serving Scotland in the friendlies against Peru and Mexico.
McGinn was quoted, “I am glad to be on the other side of the world at the moment if I am honest. I am aware of what’s going on and what’s being said.”
“The speculation is only there because I have been playing well. As a team, we have been different class but you must be doing something right when you see your name linked with all these clubs.”
The attacking midfielder became a part of the first Hibs trio alongside Lewis Stevenson and Dylan McGeouch to start for the Scotland senior team since the 1956 1-1 draw against England. McGinn has now been capped 9 times for the Tartan Army and 12 times for the U19 and U21 sides.
He has been with the Cabbage for three seasons and is entering the final 12 months of his current contract. The 23-year-old played in 46 games last term and found the back of the net 6 times. He also furthered 8 assists to help his team to the 4th spot of the Scottish Premiership.
John McGinn has been prolific for the Easter Road-based outfit and equally impressive for his country, forcing clubs, both domestic and from the north side of the border to take notice of his talents. Rangers would greatly benefit from his services in their chase towards ending the Celtic dominance in the Scottish top-flight.
McGinn has developed into a prime attacking talent and will be a quality addition to the Ibrox alongside players like Josh Windass, Ryan Jack, Jason Holt and Graham Dorrans. He spent his early years with St Mirren FC, where he made 98 appearances and scored 4 times.
Rangers will have to make more additions to their squad if they are to challenge Brendan Rodgers’ Celts in the coming season. However, Steven Gerrard recently brought in Ovie Ejaria on loan from Liverpool and already have Windass in the squad.

With the latter attracting attention from English sides, maybe McGinn can be brought in as a long-term replacement and Gerrard should consider making a move for him without much ado.
