It seems that everything is finalised between Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa and the Argentine will be announced by the Whites imminently. While an agreement between the club and the veteran manager was already in place, what was holding up the deal was the fact that the work permit for Bielsa was still not in place. That has now been sorted, thus freeing up the club to make an announcement on this imminently.
Some further news have broken in the last hour that the contract with Bielsa will be for one year with an option for an additional one if things go well. All in all, things look all set for Leeds United to announce the legendary manager soon.
While the last few seasons (in fact more than a decade to be honest) has not been the greatest for Leeds United, Marcelo Bielsa could be the one to change all that for the Whites. If one is looking for a transformation, you need to look no further than Bielsa’s reign at Chile from 2007 to 2011. Not only did he help his team gain qualification to the World Cup 2010 (remember even a star-studded Chile team that is present now could not qualify for the 2018 World Cup) but he radically changed the entire scenario of how football is managed at the national level.
In fact, this piece would be a great start to see how the Argentine literally heralded a revolution in football. Now imagine this at Leeds United. Pumped? Well, you should be. Because for all the criticisms about him, he is truly the best coach in world football. Now that may just be my opinion but I can show you many footballers who played under him who agrees. After all, I maybe a lowly columnist but if the same is said by Guardiola and Pochettino, surely that carries more weight?
This is what Guardiola had to say; It doesnt matter how many titles he had in his career.
We are judged by that how much success we have, how many titles we have won, but that is much less influential than how he has influenced football and his football players.
That is why, for me, he is the best coach in the world.
Now what about Pochettino? Here is the Spurs manager speaking about Bielsa back in 2015:
He is one of the best managers in the world.
He is like my father in both ways because hes 60 years old and he is also like my football father. I have known him since I was 14 at Newells Old Boys.
Get hyped Leeds fans. Good days are back again. Marching On Together.
