Latest reports in the media are confirming that Manchester United have been offered a luring deal. The English giants have been offered Marco Verratti by Paris Saint Germain as a part of a player plus cash deal with the French giants asking for the services of Paul Pogba in return, according to reports.
The deal, should it go through, would see Pogba move to France and United make some money while also tying down the Italian midfield ace, Marco Verratti as a replacement. The latter was set to sign a new contract worth £9m-a-year this summer but it seems like negotiations have stalled, for now, hence the rumour of Verratti leaving PSG gathered even more momentum.
Although United have shown no inclination in the past of moving on their French ace Paul Pogba and PSG have clearly indicated they want only a cash deal for Verratti, things could change here as neither side would lose out much on the deal.
From PSG’s point of view, the Parisians are ready to conquer the world stage of football and bringing in marquee signings like Paul Pogba would only make sense for them. Agreed, they will have to lose Verratti but getting a local French lad into the team would go a long way in helping them create a better fan base as well. Also, Pogba is a better all-around threat than Verratti is on his best days.
For United, at first, it would seem like it makes no sense for them to part ways with Pogba. The French superstar left the club as a teenager and made a comeback as a superstar two years back by breaking the world transfer record. However, at Old Trafford, the Frenchman has been unable to showcase his best talent and has faced more criticism than praise for his displays.
There is no questioning the impeccable skill of the midfielder but one may be forced to think that a pragmatic manager like Jose Mourinho may not be the perfect fit for Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman needs the license to roam around the midfield, pick up the ball in stray areas and create and score goals. However, in a Jose Mourinho team, he has been stuck to very well-defined, curt roles, almost like holding a lion back in a circus cage.

For United, Verratti would be a smart choice as the Italian is brilliantly talented as well and has the tactical discipline to play anywhere in a midfield three. However, the transfer, should it go through, could have a psychological and ego effect on Manchester United’s shine against PSG and that may be one of the primary reasons why the Red Devils never sign off on this deal.
