Manchester United are ready to make an offer for Paris Saint-Germain midfield enforcer Marco Verratti this summer. According to recent reports, the Red Devils are interested in securing the services of the Italian talent during this summer transfer period. It is understood that United manager Jose Mourinho is looking to add more quality to his squad in this post-season and Verratti fits the bill perfectly.
Some sources are claiming that the Italian international is one of the names on Mourinho’s list of transfer targets with a possible £75m summer move on the cards. The 25-year-old has spent six years with the Parisian giants since arriving from Pescara in the summer of 2012. However, the Reds of Manchester could face stiff competition from Juventus in pursuit of the Ligue 1 ace’s signature this summer. The Italian’s current contract with PSG is set to expire in the summer of 2021 so the Parisians would be under no pressure to sell.
Verratti has put in a number of sensational displays for PSG during the course of last season which has not gone unnoticed. The Italian midfielder had made 38 appearances for the French side last season, scoring 2 goals while grabbing 7 assists in all competitions. He is exactly the kind of talent who can flourish at Old Trafford with the likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic operating around him. Mourinho should do everything in his power to secure his signature in the coming months as he is a player who can help them close the gap to Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
Manchester United were unable to bag any trophies last season so Mourinho needs to recruit wisely in this ongoing window if he is serious about challenging for top honours next term.
The potential acquisition of Verratti will undoubtedly bolster their midfield options ahead of the new campaign. Mourinho have the likes of Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera, Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic and Marouane Fellaini to choose from while naming his starting XI at Old Trafford. The addition of Verratti will definitely improve their team a lot and add more competition for places within the Red Devils squad.
