Manchester United summer target, Federico Chiesa is now priced at £62m as opposed to Fiorentina’s early valuation of £44m with Manchester City and Liverpool also expressing interest. A massive momentum shift against the Red Devils as Jose Mourinho lines up striking bids for a few other signings this summer.
United have already dished out £69.4m for Fred and Diogo Dalot this past week and would ideally have liked to bring in Chiesa for a cheaper rate. The 20-year-old is brimming with top-pedigree talent but might not be tested enough to earn that sort of a price tag.
Plus, Mourinho will have to expend a record fee for Sergej Milinković-Savić who is constantly getting linked with a move to Old Trafford. The wings are currently occupied by a very expensive Alexis Sanchez and versatile forward duo, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
The latter is reported to be unsettled after failing to make the 23-man cut for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and has expressed interest towards leaving the side. Plenty of European outfits seem interested which could eventually leave the Red Devils a bit short staffed in the flank positions.
Chiesa slotted in 6 goals and furthered 9 assists in his 38 appearances for the 2017/18 season. Stefano Pioli has given the 20-year-old the space to grow and has been rewarded handsomely this past season.
The Italian took to the pitch with a lot of enthusiasm and managed to grab the spotlight with his pace and attacking abilities. He has already been capped 5 times for the senior national team and 15 times for the youth sides.
He is one of the brightest young talents to have developed within the Serie A and could be the next Lorenzo Insigne for his country. Standing at 5 feet 9 inches, Chiesa is a shifty figure who can break open opposition defences with his creative abilities.
His technical prowess paired with his balance and agility helps him weave his way through tight spaces and cut inside when required. The 20-year-old maintains his poise with simple dribble moves but pulls off the perfect play with his footballing intelligence.
Chiesa could be fielded on the right wing for the Red Devils, given his proficiency with both his feet and his pace to beat fullbacks from wide areas.

Mourinho might just be convinced into taking a gamble on the Italian and make this his third victory over Pep Guardiola in terms of transfer signings (first Sanchez and now Fred).
