The incredible run in the Champions League last season has now made Liverpool one of the most exciting projects in European club football at the moment. Jurgen Klopp has turned an average squad at Anfield into one feared by even the toughest in Europe. But falling short in the final hurdle yet again will force Klopp to improve on the options he has in the squad at the moment.
This has seen Liverpool linked with some of the brightest stars in Europe and one such name, constantly doing the rounds is Marco Asensio.
Having struggled for a regular game time under Zinedine Zidane, Asensio broke into the senior side at Bernabeu under the French manager and has already banged in a number of crucial goals, that many Real Madrid fans will remember for years to come. However, he has been vocal about the lack of playing time at the club in the last season or two and has constantly been linked with an exit.
The likes of Arsenal and Juventus have shown interest along with Liverpool but Julen Lopetegui will now take charge of Los Blancos and might offer Asensio a way back into the first team. But he is currently unsettled at Bernabeu and this might be the best time for suitors to try and lure him out of Spain. So should Liverpool make a move?
With six goals and six assists in 19 league starts in Spain, the 22-year old did not have an extraordinary season by any means but the way he influences games, against even the toughest of opponents, is impressive for a player of his age. He is deadly in front of goal, can play on the left wing or through the middle with equal effect and is a genuine match-winner of the highest level.
He is also part of the Spanish side travelling to Russia for the World Cup and has a bright future ahead of him. His contract with Real runs till 2023 with a massive release clause of £442m, pushing clubs out of contention, unless Real Madrid want to sell.
Liverpool already have a plethora of attacking talent and though they missed out on Nabil Fekir, will look to sign players to improve their midfield options. They will not be looking to add first team attackers but will be desperate to improve squad depth, something Asensio is not happy to do.

So at his price, Asensio needs to be playing every week but at the moment, Liverpool cannot offer the same unless Klopp decides to change his system. So signing Asensio is not really a priority for Liverpool at the moment. But do you think they should sign Asensio to take the next step?
