It’s confirmed now Marcelo Bielsa will carry Leeds United‘s charge in the Championship for the upcoming season. The experienced Argentine manager has signed a two year deal with the West Yorkshire outfit and if latest reports are to be believed, he will be handed over a transfer kitty of £20m to drive Leeds’ promotion push to the top division.
The Whites have been languishing in lower divisions of English football for quite some time now and their owner Andrea Radrizzani is going to leave no stone unturned to pursue success in the upcoming season. Bielsa himself will be reportedly earning over £2million-a-year and that will certainly make him one of the best-paid managers in the League. However, the task he has at his disposal is going to be tough as the Whites finished 13th last time around and were way off a playoff spot, let alone direct qualification. Nevertheless, they are under an experienced and proven manager now, who has gone on to revolutionise football wherever he went and it remains to be seen whether he will have the same effect in England.
The squad is certainly in need of reinforcements and the Peacocks have been linked with a host of players. However, no deals have been materialised as of now but now that their new manager is confirmed, one can expect some serious activity in the transfer market from them. Here we look at three possible signings which Bielsa might go after to strengthen his side in the new season.
Kyle Bartley
One of the signings which the Whites faithful have been longing to see this year. The Swansea City defender has constantly been linked with a move to Elland Road, however, after Swansea’s relegation, things got complicated as the Swans might lose some of their first team players and Bartley will become a crucial player for them. Nevertheless, to resurrect the defence, Bielsa should certainly consider moving in for the English defender.
Abel Hernandez
The Uruguayan forward’s time last season was plagued with injuries. He managed to play just 10 games but showed what he is all about as he plundered in 8 goals in those appearances. The free agent is also one of those who has been constantly linked with a move to Elland Road and Bielsa can bring in this proven goal scorer to beef up his attack.

Dwight Gayle
The Englishman found it tough to get going in the top division but he has proven himself in the Championship before with Newcastle United. Probably an ambitious signing but the budget which Bielsa is reported to have at his disposal, he can move in for someone like Gayle.
