It is clear that Leeds United are in need of reinforcements in the summer transfer window and they are being linked with a move for Vitoria Setubal defender Frederico Venancio. Vitoria finished 14th in the Portuguese first division and can lose their player to the Championship outfit after he impressed in his loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday.
The 25-year-old has spent most of his career at Setubal, however, he had a brief spell with Portuguese giants Benfica in his youth days. The defender made 20 appearances in the Championship last season and was impressive in his displays at the back.
Leeds United recently got rid of Paul Heckingbottom and it is yet not clear who will take up the top job at Elland Road. However, the experienced Marcelo Bielsa is considered as a favourite right now to manage the West Yorkshire outfit. Whoever be the manager, it is clear that the Whites are in need of defensive stability as they conceded 64 goals in the Championship last term and that is certainly not good enough to qualify for the playoffs.
It remains to be seen whether Sheffield Wednesday will make a permanent move for the Portuguese defender. However, it is clear that the Peacocks are monitoring the defender’s situation and are in the hunt to sign him.
Leeds United’s inspiring start to the last season came to nothing as they finished a dismal 13th in the table. They ended up sacking two managers in the space of a few months and the club is in need of stability and an experienced manager who can guide this team towards its objectives.
The Whites are looking for a solid defensive partner for Pontus Jansson and Venancio could just be the right candidate to solve their defensive woes. The Portuguese has managed to get an experience of English football already and now a move for him will be less of a risk for the Peacocks.

It’s being reported that the defender wants to continue his stint in England and that will make the Owls a prime contender to secure his services. They could look to sign him for around €1m and with Leeds coming into the picture, that could ensue a bidding war for the player. The defender has proven himself in the Championship and both the clubs will be keen on having him at their club. Only time will tell which club the 25-year-old will turn out for in the next season.
