After yet another season without much progress, Leeds United would have been worried about the future of the club. But the club’s ambition to fetch Marcelo Bielsa as the manager for the next season has certainly brightened the mood at Elland Road.
They are yet to add fresh faces to the squad from the previous season but the new manager is certain to attract some top class talent this summer. He may not have too much money to work with, but Bielsa seems determined to land Derby County striker Matej Vydra.
Born and brought up in Czechoslovakia, the 26 year old first moved to England with Watford and impressed on both his stints, scoring 20 goals in the first and 16 in the second league campaigns in the Championship. He helped the Hornets into the Premier League in 2015 but failed to impress in the top flight, moving back to the Championship with Reading on loan and then Derby County permanently in 2016.
His first season at Pride Park produced just five league goals but last season, he registered 22 goals and four assists in all competitions, almost helping the side to a promotion. A goal scoring striker with a keen eye for a defence breaking pass, the 26-year old is tailor-made for the English game. He loves to have the ball at his feet, is smart with his hold up play and is quick to win fouls for his side in dangerous areas.
He can create chances consistently and is also a brilliant set-piece taker, while his versatility to be able to play as a support striker, or also on the wing, has made him a wanted man in England.
He is still 26 and is yet to hit his peak and reports suggest that both West Brom and Leeds United are desperate for his services. It is understood that Frank Lampard has all but given up on keeping Vydra at the club and that The Rams have slapped a price tag of £11m for potential suitors.
The Whites used Pierre-Michel Lasogga regularly last season, to decent effect. But Kemar Roofe was his only able backup, who did not do enough to warrant a place in the first team. Lack of creativity was at times a problem for Leeds last season and Bielsa looks determined to solve that problem.

Vydra will not only add a different dimension to their game but can also play as the attacking spearhead, adding more goal threat to the side. At £11m, he might be a tad expensive but is a player who will definitely make an impact at Elland Road.
