Huddersfield Town are close to completing their first signing of the summer in the form of Ramadan Sobhi. The Stoke City winger has been released by the Egypt FA prior to the 2018 edition of the FIFA World Cup kicking off in Russia in a couple of weeks’ time.
Sobhi was impressive in his side’s 0-0 draw against Columbia and is now on a flight to England to hold talks with Huddersfield Town over his future. The Egypt FA confirmed: “Ramadan Sobhi is undergoing a medical screening to move to Huddersfield Town and will return (to Italy) this afternoon.”
Sobhi came to England back in 2016 when he joined Stoke City from Egypt’s league champion side Al Ahly. He had a decent first season and signed a five-year extension to his contract last year at Stoke City. However, Stoke’s dismal performance means that they are now relegated and it is unlikely the winger will see his contract through.
He played 24 games last season in the Premier League scoring twice and assisting once for the Potters. He is only 21 years old and will want to continue playing in the top division to further develop his career. This would mean that Stoke, who are now relegated and a part of the Sky Bet Championship side, will find it tough to keep hold of Sobhi.
Stoke were far below par for the entirety of the last season and now will face the consequences of getting demoted. They have star players like Xherdan Shaqiri and Jack Butland, who, like Sobhi, might look to be on the move as well.
The winger is an exciting player and can operate as a forward as well. He is fast, technically strong and has excellent ball control. He has a fancy for the outrageous shots as well that has earned him a strong reputation around England.
Most importantly, however, he knows the league very well, having played here for two years now. He will be a vital addition for Huddersfield Town who desperately need to buff up their squad with quality players.

They earned their promotion to the Premier League last season and had a tough time staying up. They barely did enough to survive and unless they bring in reinforcements, they might get relegated this season. Hence bringing in a smart player like Sobhi, who can add an extra offensive edge to their team, will only make them better.
