Fulham are lining up a move for EA Guingamp midfielder Clément Grenier this summer. According to recent reports, the Cottagers are planning to bring the Ligue 1 talent to Craven Cottage during this summer transfer period. It is believed that the Londoners have monitored his progress in French football and has been impressed by his talents so far.
Grenier joined EA Guingamp from Olympique Lyon back in January and has since flourished while playing for his new club. The French ace has registered five goals while grabbing four assists in 15 matches for the Ligue 1 side in the second half of last season. He was once considered as one of the most exciting talents in French football but his career has taken a turn for the worse over the past few years. However, he has turned things around at the Stade de Roudourou which has not gone unnoticed by other clubs.
However, the Cottagers are not the only ones looking to recruit the French midfielder and will face stiff competition from Everton and Newcastle United in pursuit of the Guingamp star’s signature. It has also been suggested that the London club have gotten in touch with the player over a potential transfer in the off-season.
Fulham was able to clinch a promotion back to the English top-flight via the playoffs earlier this year. Jokanović’s side are now in need to bring in some fresh faces this summer so that they are well-equipped to challenge in the top tier of English football in the upcoming campaign. A talented midfielder who can chip in with some goals is exactly what the doctor ordered for Fulham this summer.
The potential acquisition of Grenier will undoubtedly bolster their midfield options at Craven Cottage. Fulham have some top midfield talents such as Tom Cairney, Kevin McDonald, Stefan Johansen and Floyd Ayité vying for a place in Jokanovic’s first-team. The addition of Grenier will definitely improve their team and add more competition for places within the Cottagers squad.
