Everton are interested in signing Celta De Vigo winger Daniel Wass this summer. The Toffees are believed to be one of the many suitors chasing Wass’ signature. The winger, who is 29 years old, is rated at £5 million by the Spanish outfit.
Wass is said to be attracting interest from fellow Spanish side Valencia while Italian giants AS Roma are also interested in bringing him in. Everton will have a tough time persuading Wass to ditch the other clubs and join them since both Valencia and Roma will be able to offer the winger European football.
The Denmark international joined Celta back in 2015 and has been a key figure for them ever since. He scored four goals and assisted 9 times in the domestic league this season in 34 appearances and despite his good outing, the club failed to have a decent season.
Celta’s poor form will reportedly force them to make Wass available for a cut-price deal, an amount of £5 million, as mentioned before. Everton has been pursuing his signature for the Danish international for three years now and this may finally be the summer when they get their man. Everton are reportedly preparing to make an official offer next week.
The Toffees spent close to £200 million last season buying over 20 players under the new regime of Farhad Moshiri. However, they were unable to string together a unified side with cohesion and chemistry resulting in them losing most of their matches to weaker opponents.
They crashed out of Europe in the group stages and were equally dismal in the Premier League. They sacked two managers over the course of the season, Ronald Koeman and Sam Allardyce. With the new season on the horizon, the Merseysiders have appointed their long-term target Marco Silva as their new boss.
Silva is a young manager with a history of providing an entertaining brand of football. His tactics are dynamic and are dependent on moving the ball fast in the final third. Silva will definitely need some new faces in attack as his current options on the wing are Yannick Bolasie and Theo Walcott. While both men are fast and athletic, neither has the guile or the close control to draw in defenders and free up their front men.

This is exactly where a technical winger like Wass will come in useful for the new Everton manager. He is slower than Walcott and Bolasie but has the finesse to create space in the final third for his team, something Everton are in dire need of.
