No Champions League football, Antonio Conte’s situation remains unresolved, Thibaut Courtois likely to leave, Eden Hazard’s contract situation remains unresolved, plans for new stadium halted and more than 35 players remain farmed out on loan.
Could things get any more complicated for Chelsea? How about Roman Abramovich being denied a visa to enter the UK?
Chelsea football club appear to fall out in every way possible and things are moving slower than ever at Stamford Bridge. It is now being reported that one of Chelsea’s brightest future prospects Kurt Zouma is set to leave the club.
The Frenchman joined the Blues back in January 2014 from St.Etienne for £12.5m. He was sent back on loan to the French club until the rest of the season and formally joined the Blues that summer. He was impressive in his early days and made a huge impact under then Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.
The youngster had a rapid growth at the club keeping the likes of Gary Cahill out of the starting lineup. However, as things started to develop for him, things took a bad turn and the player got sidelined horrifically with a nasty knee injury.
He was stretchered off and had to stay off the pitch for a lengthy period. Upon his return, Mourinho had made his way out and Antonio Conte had come in. The youngster was slow to recover from his injury and found it difficult to find a place in the team despite Conte playing three centre-backs.
He was farmed out to Stoke City on loan last season to get game time under his belt. The player found regular minutes but could not manage to save the Potters from getting relegated. His loan spell is now over and the player will now return to the Bridge.
It is now being reported that the player may be shipped out again to Turkey with Bursaspor keen on a loan deal. However, any new changes will have to wait as the Blues are yet to resolve their manager situation.
The clear candidate to succeed Conte is former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri. The Italian boss prefers a four-man back system and Chelsea already have a host of central defenders in the squad. In case Sarri should come in, it is unlikely that the player will find a way into the team.
