Chelsea search for a manager to replace Antonio Conte will surely affect their chances in the transfer window this season. They have already missed out on a couple of transfer targets this summer and one player they failed to land is Gonzalo Higuain. The Argentine was wanted by the Blues to solve their goal-scoring woes but he has now decided to stay back in Turin.
This will push Chelsea back in the transfer market for yet another striker, thanks to out of form Alvaro Morata, currently at the club. They do have a few options on their wish list, but who should they sign? Here are three Higuain alternatives for The Blues:
Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich):
The Polish international, who will captain his side in the World Cup in Russia, recently decided to quit Bayern at the end of the previous season. He has already conveyed the same to the Bayern hierarchy, who are ready to let him leave at the right price. The 29-year old wants a move to Real Madrid, who could replace Karim Benzema with the Pole. But he has also been offered to clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea and could be a decent option for the Blues. He is one of the best strikers in the game and at just 29 is still in his prime. But lack of Champions League football could scupper their chances in this deal.
Mauro Icardi (Inter Milan):
One of the most consistent goal scorers in Serie A for over a couple of years now, Icardi is unlucky to not be a part of the Argentine squad selected for the World Cup. He netted 29 goals in Serie A last season and is slowly turning into one of the best in Europe. At just 25, he has a huge career ahead of him and could be a long-term solution to an impending problem at Stamford Bridge. Like with Lewandowski, Inter Milan will play in the UCL, something Chelsea cannot offer next season, so they might have to pay above the odds to land him this summer.

Jamie Vardy (Leicester City):
The English international is touted as one of the most consistent strikers in the Premier League last season. He helped his side to a league title not so long ago and has continued his form in front of goal, scoring 23 goals in all competitions for his side. He has already turned 31 but has shown no signs of slowing down and could be a decent target man for a struggling Chelsea side.
