Chelsea are adamant that they will not let go of Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the summer even if his value rises after a good World Cup campaign. Loftus-Cheek had earlier made it clear that he doesn’t intend to sit on Chelsea’s bench anymore and that alerted quite a few Premier League clubs who are looking to sign him.
The midfielder made his full debut in the World Cup against Panama and was impressive for the Three Lions as they hammered 6 past a hapless World Cup debutant. The midfielder is the product of Chelsea’s youth academy and has represented England at various youth levels and has now gone on to establish himself in the senior squad as well.
Everton, Crystal Palace and West Ham United have been linked with the player but Chelsea are keen to hold on to their man as they feel that the midfielder will come good for them in the future. He spent a season-long loan with Crystal Palace last term and was instrumental for them when he was fit and available. He had made 25 appearances and managed 2 goals and 5 assists for the Eagles last season.
Chelsea are only willing to let him leave on a loan deal and it remains to be seen whether the midfielder will be in Maurizio Sarri’s plans for the upcoming season. The fact that the Blues hasn’t announced his arrival yet is going to create a lot of headaches for them with just a few months left until the transfer window comes to a close. Hence, the new manager will have relatively less time to work with the current batch of players and improve the squad.
The 22-year-old had impressed during the last season and will certainly demand more first-team opportunities. Chelsea had a dismal season even though they won the FA Cup and the club will now be looking to improve on their 5th place finish under their new manager.

In the midfield, their new signing Tiémoué Bakayoko has failed to establish himself at Stamford Bridge and apart from N’Golo Kante, none of their options in central midfield had a decent season. The Blues can certainly not let a talent like Loftus-Cheek getaway in the summer especially given the fact that they themselves are lacking in that department. The player gave an ultimatum recently that he is not going to stay at Stamford Bridge if he isn’t guaranteed regular starts so maybe it’s time for the West London outfit to integrate him into the first team.
