Latest reports claim that Celtic striker, Moussa Dembele is being monitored by Borussia Dortmund as a potential Michy Batshuayi replacement. The latter is due to return to Chelsea after the completion of his loan spell and is priced way too high for a permanent switch. This has prompted the Bundesliga outfit to shift their attention towards the Scottish Premiership, where Dembele has shone in the recent past.
The 21-year-old is the first choice centre-forward under Brendan Rodgers and has already stacked up 48 goals from his 88 total appearances for the Hoops. He netted the ball on 16 occasions last term and a staggering 32 times in the 2016/17 campaign, which was also his debut season.
Dembele transferred from Fulham in June 2016 and still has two seasons left on his current contract. He was an immediate hit at Parkhead, winning the hearts of the fans with his magical touch and eager scoring eye.
Recurring bouts of injury stole playing time for him last season but the Frenchman still remains Rodgers’ favourite. He was connected with moves away to the Premier League and even had a £16m bid from Brighton And Hove Albion rejected. Dembele has been capped 46 times for the France youth sides, ranging from the U16s to the U21s. With blistering pace under his feet, the youngster can be impactful from any of the positions in the final third.
He is technically gifted with a wonderful first touch and uses that trait to great effect to keep his opposition defenders constantly guessing. The striker is well rounded with decent aerial abilities to mark himself as one of the best talents in the Scottish top-flight.
Dembele has passed a convincing statement with his performances for the Bhoys and seems ready enough to take the next step in his playing career. The Bundesliga might seem attractive to a lot of youngsters, especially if they are promised a starting role for a title-contending side.
Celtic can also afford to sell him after signing Odsonne Edouard from Paris Saint-Germain on a club record-breaking fee. When Dembele was out injured in the previous season, Rodgers relied on the services of Leigh Griffiths and Edouard to lead the club’s offence.
The former PSG man impressed enough to earn a permanent switch to Glasgow. However, his transfer could spell trouble in the Celtic ranks as three players will be competing for a starting berth.

Dembele’s sale will fetch the Bhoys another record-breaking fee, which will surely help them find replacements as well as tend to some of the other leaks in the current squad (not that Rodgers has many, to begin with).
