Celtic’s failure to impress on the European arena taints their domination in the domestic league. Brendan Rodgers has been impressive in the way he has helped the club to various titles in his time in Glasgow. But fighting with the best for the Champions League is what Celtic will want to achieve next season.
This has seen them linked with a host of new stars that can improve their first team next season. One such player now on their radar is Moses Odubajo.
Born and brought up in Greenwich, England, Odubajo started his career with Leyton Orient but has only managed to earn a name for himself in 2015, after he moved to Hull City. He made a decent start to his time at KCOM, helping the Tigers to the top flight in his debut season at the club.
However, he picked up a knee injury in the play-off finals that season, that subsequently kept him out of the squad the next season and the last. He has not played professional football since 2016 and also suffered a hamstring injury on his way back to full fitness late last season but he is now in full health and is ready for action next season.
He is now out of a contract, as his deal with Hull City has expired and reports suggest that Celtic are interested in bringing him to Glasgow on a free transfer. 24-year old Odubajo is a gifted player, who can play on the right side of the midfield as well. But he is a right-back, who is effective at both ends of the field.
He is one of the quickest full-backs in the Championship and is also astute defensively, winning most of what is thrown into the box, in the air. He rarely leaves space behind him, and loves to make contributions in the final and is unlucky to have missed a couple of years of his career.
However, at just 24, he still has time to establish himself as one of the best and a move to Celtic will certainly help. However, his addition to the squad will mean that Rodgers will further strengthen the position of right back with the likes of Mikael Lustig and Cristian Gamboa already there from last season. He also has Anthony Ralston as an understudy, leaving them with no need of a right-back this summer.

However, Gamboa, who found game time hard to come by last season, may struggle to get in the starting XI if Celtic end up signing Odubajo. The 28-year old Costa Rican could well be shipped out to give Odubajo a chance to impress next season. But do you think Gamboa deserves another season at Celtic Park?
