Paris Saint-Germain forward, Odsonne Edouard has signed on a 4-year deal with Celtic for a record-breaking transfer fee. The Scottish outfit is understood to have shelled out £9m for the permanent switch of the 20-year-old striker, a massive jump from the £6m they paid for Chris Sutton and John Hartson.
After penning down the deal, Edouard said, “I was desperate to make my move permanent. To see our fans so happy is the reason you play football and now we want to do everything we can to bring our great supporters even more success.”
This could be a highly rewarding move for the Hoops if Edouard fulfils all his early promise over the next four years. The striker is still young and has shown the fans at Glasgow of his potential in the Scottish top-flight.
Edouard scored 11 goals and set his teammates up 4 times in 29 appearances to help the Celts register their second consecutive domestic treble. He played mostly behind the likes of Mousa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths but still flourished when given the opportunity.
The France youth international is a strong figure at 6 feet 1 inches tall and has all the marks of a makeshift versatile attacker. He already has a keen scoring eye and is slowly developing his technical abilities.
Rodgers is currently in the hunt for more quality additions to place a better challenge at the European stage next season. When asked about the decision to sign Edouard, he said, “Our fans saw exactly what he is capable of last season and we look forward to working with him again as we look to build on the tremendous success we achieved last year. I am sure he will be a big player again for us this season.”
Rodgers has done a spectacular job at rotating his striking options. Edouard has been provided with the platform to prove his worth and the youngster has taken on the challenge with a lot of professional enthusiasm.
He is gradually turning into a top professional with the potential of having an illustrious future in the Scottish top-flight. He has won the hearts of the Celtic faithful and is improving with every passing game.

His prospects with the Ligue 1 champions are significantly low with superstars like Edinson Cavani, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in the squad. The French giants also have to sell £53m worth of players to comply with Financial Fair Play rules. So it can be said that it is a good move from the perspective of all the parties involved.
