Thomas Lemar was rumoured to be moving to England in the January transfer window but nothing materialized. Now it seems that Lemar has fallen off the radar of Liverpool and Arsenal. However, a new entrant has joined the race and its the La Liga holders Barcelona who have registered an interest in signing the French winger.
The 22-year-old has been picked for France’s national squad for World Cup and a good stint in Russia might ensue a scramble among clubs to sign him. However, it is yet not clear whether he will manage to get into the talented French first eleven. The winger had an average season with Monaco and that could be one of the reasons why the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool have cooled down their interest in him. Nevertheless, the Frenchman will still be a vital player for any club and it seems that Barcelona could be that club as they look to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
There were reports that Lemar was hoping for a move to Barcelona and it seems that his wishes might well just come true.
Ousmane Dembele who was brought in for big money from Germany failed to establish himself in his first season with te Blaugrana outfit. However, he certainly deserves another chance as his first season at Camp Nou was plagued with injuries and it is never easy for a player to come back from a lengthy injury and that too at a new club where the expectations are sky high.
Lemar managed 3 goals and 10 assists this season but he is certainly a better player than those stats suggests. He is a powerful winger who uses his pace and dribbling skills to go past his players. Even after an average season, Didier Deschamps showed faith in him and has kept him in the squad for the World Cup.
Monaco’s asking price for the winger can also be stated as one of the reasons why Premier League clubs took their hands of him as they reportedly want €70m and 90m for the 22-year-old.
Barcelona recently acquired Phillipe Coutinho from Liverpool for big money and the Brazilian has settled well at Camp Nou. It remains to be seen whether they will be willing to spend big bucks again as they look to break their rivals Real Madrid‘s dominance in European competitions.

With someone like Dembele already at their disposal, it might seem like a foolish move to get another left winger but there have been reports of Dembele being sold after just one season. It remains to be seen whether Lemar will be brought in as a replacement for him next season.
