Aston Villa are reportedly keeping tabs on Liverpool winger, Sheyi Ojo for a loan spell next season. The Reds are looking to move some of the club’s youngsters to find more playing time under favourable managers and Ojo could be the right fit with Steve Bruce’s men.
Birmingham City, Derby County and Stoke City are rivalling the Villans for the 21-year-old’s signature, who has 43 caps for England youth sides ranging from the U16s to the U21s.
Ojo primarily operates from the wide areas but cannot play centrally as well. The Hamstead-born player came through the Academy of MK Dons and was signed by Liverpool when he was just 14, beating out a host of European competitors.
Ojo spent the previous season out on loan with the newly-promoted Fulham with 24 appearances, 4 goals and 2 assists registered to his name for the Cottagers. Unfortunate injury concerns kept him out of action for almost half of the campaign but he did contribute in helping the Slavisa Jokanovic-led side to the playoffs of the EFL Championship.
The winger also had loan spells with Wigan Athletic and Wolves prior to his engagement with the Lillywhites. Ojo broke through the Reds youth ranks with flying colours, joining Harry Wilson as the club’s top scorer in the U17 Futures Cup.
He made his first-team debut for the Merseyside outfit on 8 January 2016, in the FA Cup third round 2-2 draw against Exeter City. Since then, the youngster has racked up 13 senior team games for Liverpool but does not have a decent shot at a cemented starting spot.
Jurgen Klopp already has Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in the attacking lineup with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain filling in from deep. He has also made additions to the midfield and is still on the lookout for more.
Looking at the prospects of Ben Woodburn last season, who spent the entire season on the Anfield benches and made just 2 appearances for the senior team, Ojo has little to no chance of breaking into the starting squad.
Aston Villa seems to be the perfect escape given the financial issues they are facing at the moment. Bruce has been forced to let go of a number of players and might have to sell off some of the top names like Jack Grealish, Andre Green or James Chester.

The Villans plan on making another run for promotion next term and Ojo can be certain of receiving a prominent role under Bruce.
