Leeds United have officially ended terms with Felix Wiedwald who has joined German side, Eintracht Frankfurt. He failed to meet the expectations of the fans and the manager in the last season and was reportedly unhappy at Elland Road.
However, his departure will need to be treated with the utmost importance since he was the starting keeper last term. Marcelo Bielsa has taken charge of the Whites and is on a lookout for replacements. Here are a few names he should consider to replace the German shot-stopper.
Rob Elliot
Newcastle United seem like a very bad dream for the Irishman now that Martin Dubravka has made his move from Sparta Prague permanent. Elliot still has 2 more seasons left on his contract with the Magpies but is not necessarily on the good books of Rafael Benitez.
After a few appearances early on in the 2017/18 campaign, he was dropped from squad selection altogether and finished the season with 16 appearances.
Maybe the time is now for him to make a switch since the Tyneside outfit already has a backup in Karl Darlow and a young prodigy in Freddie Woodman.
Sam Johnstone
The young England U21 international spent this past season out on loan with Aston Villa. He did remarkably well for the Villans as he helped the side to the 4th spot of the EFL Championship and earned them a place in the playoff finals.
However, his loan spell was only for a single season and he will now return to Manchester United with his contract on the verge of getting over. Leeds should consider making this young English player a lucrative offer as he can be a real asset for the club in the present and for the future.
He has experience of playing in the English top divisions and hence should be more than comfortable playing for Leeds. At United, Johnstone will always be behind David De Gea and maybe even behind Sergio Romero in the pecking order.
Danny Ward
He is another young goalkeeper from a big English side, Liverpool. The 25-year-old is third or possibly fourth choice goalkeeper under Jurgen Klopp as the Reds lineup bids for Loris Karius replacements. He will not want to waste the best years of his playing career warming the benches at Anfield and could be offered a very rewarding home at Elland Road.

The Welshman has just 4 caps to his name for his country which could also improve with regular first-team football. The Reds will not miss him much either with an efficient backup option in Simon Mignolet.
