West Ham United star Marko Arnautovic has given a recent interview which might boost Manchester United‘s chances to get him as he recently claimed that ‘anything can happen’ regarding his future. The Red Devils have been a surprise entrant to buy the Austrian attacker as Jose Mourinho is looking for impact players for the upcoming season.
United have been slated all season for their lacklustre performance in the final third and the pressure is on Mourinho to rectify that. They have been linked with a move for the 29-year-old left winger and recently Jose Mourinho witnessed him from close quarters as he flew to Austria to watch him play against Russia. The forward is valued at £40m and it remains to be seen whether United will pay such sum for a 29-year-old.
Arnautovic recently gave an interview which added more fire to speculations. He said,” I am happy with my job. Whatever happens, will happen. The only thing that bothers me is that I am in good health and that I am able to play football. I have a contract at West Ham, that’s all we have to talk about.”
Arnautovic was a key player for the Hammers as he helped them to survive in the Premier League for another season. The Austrian managed 11 goals and 8 assists and was the focal point of attack for David Moyes in the latter half of the season.
West Ham needs to be prepared for a situation where their star man leaves and we look at three possible replacements they can go after.
Eric Maxim Choupo Moting
The Stoke City winger could be available on a cut-price deal as the Potters went down to the second division. Along with Xherdan Shaqiri, Choupo-Moting was one of the few players who was able to provide a spark in the attacking half. He managed 5 goals and 5 assists in 32 appearances and he can be more effective when he gets more support from his teammates.
Andre Schurrle
The former Chelsea forward can be a good fit in the attacking half as Manuel Pellegrini tries to rebuild the side. He is a versatile player as he can play in various positions upfront and the German already has a taste of Premier League and can be a smart buy for the Hammers.

Juan Mata
The Manchester United man will be entering in the final year of his contract next season after he penned down a one-year extension in January. According to the sporadic part he played last season, it is likely that the Red Devils might not offer him another new contract after the next season and that might propel them to sell him instead of losing him for free next year. Hammers can be smart in their transfer dealings and can probably include him in the deal with Arnautovic in case the deal goes through.
