Reports from German outlet Bild are confirming that Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper is free to leave the club. Having signed Lukas Hradecky, Leverkusen are ready to let go of Leno who should definitely attract interest from the English Premier League.
Lukas Hradecky might be given the number 1 spot in goal meaning that Leno will have to settle for number 2, something he is unlikely to accept. Hence the keeper might seek a move abroad and that should alert the Premier League clubs to swoop in for him.
Here are three clubs who, we feel, should definitely try and bring him in.
Arsenal
The Gunners are entering a new era under former Paris Saint Germain boss, Unai Emery. The Spanish tactician will look to get new players on board and might consider a move for a new goalkeeper as well.
They currently have Petr Cech in goal. The veteran goalkeeper is ageing fast and will need a new keeper to replace him at the Emirates. Cech is an age-old customer in the league and replacing him will not be easy.
However, getting in Leno will be a good buy as the keeper is extremely talented and has a bright future ahead of him. He has been trained in Germany and is technically gifted as a custodian. Arsenal will indeed be doing a good deal if they can get in Leno to replace Cech.
Liverpool
Loris Karius? No. Simon Mignolet? Definitely no. Neither keeper is good enough to play for a big club like Liverpool. The Reds suffered the heartbreak of a final defeat in the Champions League due to two costly mistakes from Karius. The German has been error-prone all season and the Reds need an upgrade in goal.
Mignolet is not even considered as a first-team choice anymore and Jurgen Klopp should definitely try and bring in Leno to improve their standards in goal.
West Ham United
The Hammers had a disappointing season this time and will be looking to improve next time out. They have parted ways with David Moyes and have brought in a veteran in the form of Manuel Pellegrini as head coach.
They had Joe Hart in goal last season but the Englishman, who was on loan at West Ham, had a disappointing season and the Hammers will be hoping to get a fresh pair of gloves in between the sticks this season. This will make the signing of Leno an effective buy for sure for Pellegrini’s men.
