Reports coming out of Italy claim that Tottenham Hotspur target, Justin Kluivert has agreed on personal terms with AS Roma. The Serie A outfit has met with the player’s agent, Mino Raiola to facilitate a transfer with just the fee yet to be agreed upon with Ajax.
This is a major blow for Mauricio Pochettino, who has been eyeing up a summer move for the 19-year-old influential winger. Kluivert, who is the son of Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert, has been prolific for Ajax this past season and has been wooed by a number of prominent European outfits.
The Lancers tried to officiate a move for the player to North London which, in turn, ended up complicating the relationship between the two parties. Now Pochettino will have to look for able replacements and has some time to do so.
The Argentine boss is well aware of the talent he would require to have a pugilist’s chance for the league title next season. His side got exposed a number of times in the 2017/18 campaign due to a lack of squad depth.
The wide positions could use some additional talent with the likes of Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela and Georges-Kévin N’Koudou failing to meet the necessary standards. Here are a few players Spurs should consider.
Leon Bailey
The Bayer Leverkusen winger is high on a lot of European club’s transfer list but Pochettino can still look to make an offer. He will expectedly cost more than Kluivert in the current market mostly due to his past season antics.
The Jamaican has blistering pace under his boots and the skill to match the likes of top professionals in his position.
Anthony Martial
The Manchester United attacker has been heavily linked with Tottenham in recent times. He got dropped from the French national team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and has looked unsettled with his rotational role at Old Trafford.
Xherdan Shaqiri
Stoke City ended the 2017/18 campaign, 19th in the Premier League table which saw the Potters suffer relegation to the Championship. This leaves talented options like Shaqiri in an uneasy position, looking for an escape route out of the Bet365 stadium. The Swiss international is a top-pedigree talent and is simply far too good for the second division.

He has stood out among the rest of his Potters teammates and has also managed to maintain his lofty standards for his national team. The 26-year-old has the skill and scoring potential to make a huge mark in the Tottenham squad.
