The darkest days of Leeds United Football Club might finally be over following the appointment of high-profile Argentine Marcelo Bielsa as their new boss and the dejected supporters, who had years of anguish, have seen a ray of hope, therefore, will be rejuvenated once more prior to an extremely crucial 2018-19 Championship campaign.
The Whites witnessed a sudden upsurge under Garry Monk a couple of seasons back when they almost nailed a playoff place but missed out narrowly following some unfavourable outcomes in decisive fixtures. Monk, however, opted to step down last summer and neither Thomas Christiansen nor Paul Heckingbottom managed to replicate his good work at Elland Road.
Andrea Radrizzani, the Peacocks owner, has now made a remarkable contribution by convincing the former Argentina and Chile chief to instigate his regime in Yorkshire and the veteran boss is likely to reconfigure the underwhelming Leeds side who once again dropped to the mid-table last season.
Bielsa, meanwhile, is likely to be handed a £20m warchest to invest on his summer recruits and a mass exodus is on the cards in order to trim the squad size. The Whites have several fringe players in their ranks who are tipped to be offloaded – most notably Tyler Denton, the 22-year-old left-back, who is reportedly a transfer target of Serie B outfit Brescia on a season-long loan with an option to buy.
Denton progressed through Leeds’ academy set-up but failed to secure enough first-team actions despite training with the senior side. The youngster made only three Cup appearances under Monk before completing a loan move to League Two outfit Port Vale last summer. He was featuring regularly in the beginning but lost his starting role within a few months’ time and returned to his boyhood side in January addressing family reasons.
Leeds already got Gaetano Berardi and Laurens De Bock as their preferred options down the left whereas 20-year-old prodigy Tom Pearce got a nod ahead of Denton under Heckingbottom towards the end of the previous campaign. He, therefore, has no future at Elland Road and Massimo Cellino, the former Leeds chairman currently owning the Italian second-tier outfit, is keen on tying down the fullback whom he monitored closely during his days in West Yorkshire.
Striker Marcus Antonsson, too, is set to complete his switch to Brescia failing to attain senior minutes and the work of a squad revamp has already begun under El Loco to script a long-pending Premier League return.
