Liverpool youngster Ryan Kent decided to join Bristol City on a six-month loan deal during the January transfer window amidst speculation linking him with a move to Leeds United. However, the 21-year-old has failed to impress during his time at Ashton Gate and has now come back to Merseyside with his future in doubt. The Oldham-born speedster only made 11 appearances for the Robins last season with just two assists to his name across all competitions.
It is believed that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of Kent’s talents but his recent spell at Bristol City has put his Anfield future in doubt for next season. The Reds could look to send him out on loan again to try and help him develop before he is ready for first-team action at Merseyside in a few years time.
Kent is exactly the kind of player who can succeed at Elland Road if given the opportunity to showcase his talents in the Championship. The Peacocks should definitely go back in for the English winger if they are serious about mounting a promotion push next term. At 21, the Reds starlet has a long time to grow and develop as a player so that he can be a regular in the Reds first-team.
The 21-year-old has also represented England at various youth levels and has incredible potential. Only time will tell whether the youngster can take his game to the next level and break into Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans in the coming years.
The West Yorkshire team managed to earn a 13th place in the Skybet Championship last season and their new manager Marcelo Bielsa is in need of revamping the squad by bringing in some quality players so that his side can challenge for a promotion spot in the upcoming season.
The addition of Kent will undoubtedly bolster Bielsa’s attacking options at Elland Road. Leeds United have a whole host of attacking talents such as Pablo Hernandez, Samuel Saiz and Kemar Roofe competing for a place in Bielsa’s starting XI. The potential acquisition of Kent will improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within the Peacocks squad.
A switch to Leeds will also help the player gain more experience as he will feature more regularly under Bielsa at Elland Road. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Kent and whether he ends up making a switch to West Yorkshire before the start of next season.
