Everton wide man Ademola Lookman is expected to sit down with the Merseyside club to discuss his future this week. According to recent reports, the Toffees chiefs are prepared to hold talks with the talented youngster and highlight their plans for him under their new manager Marco Silva. It is believed that the Blues of Merseyside are not willing to part ways with their prized asset but the future of the English winger still remains unclear.
Despite the fact that the Toffees want to keep hold of him, Lookman is eager to make a fresh start someplace else after struggling to gain enough first-team opportunities at Goodison Park over the past few years. The London-born playmaker went out on loan to ply his trade at RB Leipzig during the January transfer window. His contributions helped the German outfit earn a Europa League place and now, some sources are claiming that Leipzig are looking to seal a move for the English youngster on a permanent basis.
Lookman joined Everton from Charlton Athletic in the winter of 2017 for a fee in the region of £10m. He registered 5 goals in just 7 starts for Leipzig last season. In a recent interview, the German club’s sporting director, Ralf Ragnick was quoted to have said, “If it were only up to us, then I would already know the answer.
“But it’s not only up to us – there’s no option in his contract.
“We’ll have to see what happens in the summer, and it also depends on what happens at Everton.”
However, the Bundesliga team are not the only ones looking to recruit the Toffees starlet with Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton also keeping tabs on the progress of the English speedster. Retaining some of their top young talents like Lookman could go a long way in helping the Merseyside club build for a bigger and brighter future at Goodison Park.
Marco Silva should do everything in his power to convince the English wonderkid to stay at the club as he has incredible potential which he could fulfil under the stewardship of the Portuguese manager. Lookman is exactly the kind of talent who can turn out to be a future world-beater in English football. At the mere age of 20, the Toffees wide man has already shown glimpses of his true potential. It is now up to the Merseysiders to give him an ideal platform to showcase his talents in the English top tier.
