Now that West Brom are relegated to the Championship after the loss of Swansea City at the hands of Southampton last night, Bristol City manager Lee Johnson could be on his way to West Bromwich Albion, according to latest reports. Apart from him, there are two others who are being lined up by the Baggies for the top job at Hawthorns. Currently, the club is managed by the caretaker manager David Moore who has done a terrific job in a short period of time.
West Brom started their season poorly under Tony Pulis and as a result, he was shown the door. Alan Pardew was appointed but he failed to inspire the team as he managed just one win in his stint. Since then, they have come up with some inspiring performances against some of the Premier League heavyweights. However, one can reckon that if they could have shown this commitment earlier, they would have been much better placed in the standings.
Lee Johnson’s team started off well in the Championship as they were in a good position to qualify for the playoffs. However, as the season progressed, their form faded and they finished a dismal eleventh.
Regarding his move to Hawthorns, Johnson said,”It’s just speculation. I’m very happy here. I’ve got two years left on my contract and it’s a brilliant club. It’s a project and I’m already looking forward to next season.I’m excited about next season already. There’s been so much work that’s been going on behind the scenes.”
Even the Bristol City owner denied the speculation regarding his manager making a switch to West Brom. He said,” I don’t know anything about it other than what I have read. It’s not been mentioned to me. I’m not aware the club has had any types of approach. Lee is here for the long-term. We stuck with him through the bad times and he has given us some good times this year. We look at build on these and go a step further next season. Making the top six and promotion at the end of the season.”
After his recent performance, David Moore should certainly be considered for the top job and it seems like Bristol City aren’t going to let their main man leave, especially for a club who are going to join them in the Championship.

West Brom will be in need of an experienced manager if they want to bounce back to the English top flight if they are relegated. Johnson is a young promising manager but he hasn’t delivered the goods as of yet. The Baggies should probably look at someone with more pedigree or someone who understands the club and has a connection with the fans.
