According to reports coming out of Italy, Napoli boss, Carlo Ancelotti has demanded the signing of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Mousa Dembele. The Italian tactician has been alerted over the exit rumours of the aforementioned player and would like to bring him to the Stadio San Paolo before he gets things started for the 2018/19 season.
Maurizio Sarri had handed in his resignation earlier this month with the probable job offer from Chelsea looming over the 59-year-old. Napoli were quick to appoint Ancelotti as his replacement and the latter’s work seems to have already commenced towards the direction of making squad improvements.
Dembele has long been linked with a move out of Tottenham and towards any of the Chinese Super League teams. It was reported that the Belgian international was willing to trade the last year of his Wembley-stay for a more lucrative offer from any of the Chinese outfits. The clubs from the Far East have notoriously been poaching players out of Europe by providing them mind-boggling contracts.
A nice retirement nest would have been the right way to quit his Premier League teams but the prospects of working for Ancelotti could be enough to spark a change in temperament. The former Real Madrid manager is one of the most decorated coaches in world football.
He last registered a treble with the Galacticos in the 2013/14 season and was later axed by Bayern Munich. Napoli could be the perfect setting stone to resurrect his dying career. There obviously is enough talent in the team to upstage Juventus to the league title next season, as evident from Sarri’s work the last term.
Dembele could be the perfect addition to his midfield requirements. The Belgian can defend, pass and most importantly, hold onto possession against all odds. Mauricio Pochettino has relied on him all season long to carry out the holding midfield role with Victor Wanyama on the sidelines due to injury.
Dembele is one of the most underrated central heads in the English top-flight. He is key to Tottenham’s high pressing style of football and to their future ambitions. Not only can Pochettino afford to lose him, the 30-year-old himself should not favour a move away from White Hart Lane.

His prospects are far better with the North London outfit than with Napoli, after witnessing Tottenham’s impressive run in the UEFA Champions League. Pochettino should be quick to knock out any offers for the midfield enforcer and convince him to stay at the club.
