Latest reports are confirming that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Lazio’s star midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. However, the deal might not be so easy to pull off as his agent, Mateja Kezman, has refused to confirm the player’s interest in seeking a move.
He told Lazionew.eu: “Lazio have three big games to go and nobody has talked about any negotiations at this moment. It’s only normal there is enormous interest in Sergej between some top European clubs, but we do not have any agreement with any club.”
This is what he had said, “He’s very happy at Lazio”.
The Serbian international was seen as a serious talent with reports that Juventus were keen to bring him to Turin.
“It was enough to see Sergej on the pitch for 10 minutes during a Vojvodina youth team training session to understand his enormous potential,” Mateja Kezman, Milinkovic-Savic’s agent, recalled in an interview with Tuttosport.
“Sergej is special, he combines strength, speed and technique. He’s a top talent and he needed a club like Lazio and a Coach like [Simone] Inzaghi who is doing the best and the maximum for him.
“Juventus? Sergej is very happy at Lazio, and he renewed his contract not long ago.”
It now seems that despite English clubs being interested in him, he might not move. The player is performing extremely well at Lazio and is perhaps one of their best players this season after Ciro Immobile.
He is a tall, strong player who can play in multiple positions in the midfield. He has the potential to play as a number 10 or a number 8 or a number 6. He ideally prefers to operate from box to box and is a complete modern day midfielder.

He can pass; both long and short, cross the ball, shoot from distance and dribble with the ball. Off the ball, he is one of the more physical players who can tackle and hassle the opposition in midfield. Although he lacks the pace, his sense of positioning allows him to take up vital spaces on the pitch, something that is rare in a player of his age. At Spurs, he can be a perfect replacement for Dembele but the question remains if he will move at all.
It has been a season far from satisfying for Spurs and their manager Pochettino might be looking to bring in reinforcements for the next season. Having sealed a place in the top four with a 1-0 win over Newcastle United in their last match, the North London club are set to get their priorities sorted and one of them being the inclusion of some world-class names in the various departments, Savic can be a handy inclusion to Pochettino’s squad.
