Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Celtic youngster Kieran Tierney. The defender, who plays as a left-back, has been exceptional for the Hoops this season and has attracted interest from a number of premier clubs in Europe. Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool are all said to be interested but Tottenham Hotspur are the front-runners for the signature of the defender according to bookmakers.
The young defender has made 40 appearances for the Hoops this season, scoring 4 goals and creating 11 assists. The player has been exceptional in attack and his numbers are there to back it up. Moreover, he has the pace and the stamina required to succeed in Europe’s top leagues including the Premier League.
The defender is technically gifted and has a lot of potential to develop in the future. Apart from his defensive prowess, he also has the ability to play up the field as well and jet heel down the wing and put in lethal crosses into the opposition box to assist his teammates. He is now being chased by Spurs who will need a new defender into the squad because of the Danny Rose situation.
Tottenham Hotspur have two senior left backs in the squad in the form of Danny Rose and Ben Davies. Rose was the star player in the Tottenham Hotspur squad in the last few years but a bust-up with the Spurs hierarchy this year has cost him his place in the team. Moreover, his injury forced him off the field for months and the England international has been unable to make it back to the first team in North London.
Rose’s deputy Ben Davies has stepped up magnificently to the task thereby cementing the first team spot for himself. Although Davies does not have the speed and dynamism of Rose, he is certainly an attacking threat and can deliver telling crosses into the box.
Tottenham have somehow managed to string through the season at left back but rumours have connected Danny Rose with an exit from the club. It has been reported that the England international is frustrated with the lack of game time at the club and is ready to move on. Should that be the case, Davies alone will not be enough and Spurs will need a backup. This would make Tierney the ideal man for Spurs to chase in the inflated transfer market. Let’s wait and watch to find out whether Spurs get their man or not.
