Southampton are looking to bring in the Celtic midfielder, Tom Rogic as they look to escape relegation within the last 2 games of the 2017/18 season. The Saints still have a solid chance of making into the top 17, being just a point adrift of safety.
Their head of recruitment, Ross Wilson have taken a liking to Rogic who has appeared sporadically for the Hoops this season. His scarce selection can be attributed to the injury concerns he went through but he remains one of the key figures under Brendan Rodgers.
Rogic came through the NIKE Academy after getting through the initial selection process called ‘The Chance’. He signed his first professional contract with Central Coast Mariners in the Australian A-League but was later picked up Celtic after an impressive trial in Spain. He did have a tough spell breaking into the first squad early in his Hoops career and was even sent back home for further development with Melbourne Victory.
On his return, Rodgers has given the 25-year-old a favourable shot at making it big and ever since the player has not looked back. He signed a three-year extension with the side on 9th August 2016 and has racked up 125 appearances total appearances.
He also has 30 goals and 22 assists to go along with that many senior team games, 16 of those registered this season alone.
Rogic has also been capped 35 times for the Australian national team and is expected to appear in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He certainly has drawn a lot of praise from his manager, judging by his recent statements.
Rodgers was quoted, “Tom is a brilliant player, but you have to respect that a player’s career is short. I don’t think he is questioning the club, I don’t think he is questioning anything here. He is a young guy who was deemed not good enough for some clubs when he was younger. Tom has come over here and it has taken five years for him to really establish himself and show his real talents.”
The 25 year old has proven the English gaffer right in every way. Rogic has quite deservedly earned the Premier League call-up even if it is from a relegation-threatened club. His graceful touch on the ball along with an ability to set up plays for his team has a place in one of Europe’s most prestigious leagues.

Southampton should be more than happy to get a player of Rogic’s pedigree, especially since he is only 25. Maybe he will be able to guide them back to the top-flight if the unthinkable does end up happening in the coming weeks.
