Rangers have begun discussions with Liverpool over a potential swoop for Harry Wilson this summer. According to recent reports, the Gers are eager to seal a loan move for the Welsh youngster during this summer transfer period. It is understood that Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has already gotten in touch with the Reds over the possibility of signing Wilson on a temporary basis.
The Welsh wide man went out on loan to Hull City in the second half of the last campaign and was instrumental in the Tigers’ bid to avoid relegation to League One. Some sources are now claiming that his match-winning performances at the KCOM Stadium have not gone unnoticed with the Teddy Bears set to battle with Leeds United in pursuit of the Welsh starlet’s signature this summer.
The 21-year-old attacking talent scored 7 goals and created 4 more in 13 appearances in the English Championship last season. He has massive potential to be a future star in English football and Liverpool might decide to loan him out again this summer so that he can continue with his development. Recent reports have also suggested that a loan fee in the region of £250,000 will be enough to take him away from Merseyside. However, Jurgen Klopp’s side will also ask for more compensation if he does not play the required number of games.
The new Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has previously worked with Wilson during his time as the youth team manager of Liverpool and hence he will be aware of his incredible potential. The Gers are in need to make some clever acquisitions in this transfer window so that they have a realistic chance of challenging Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title next season.
The addition of Wilson will definitely bolster Gerrard’s attacking options ahead of the new campaign. Rangers have the likes of Scott Arfield, Josh Windass, Daniel Candeias and Graham Dorrans competing for a place in their first-team. The potential acquisition of Wilson on a loan deal will undoubtedly improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within Gerrard’s squad.

At the mere of 21, the Welsh winger needs to play regular first-team football in order to fulfil his true potential. Hence, the Liverpool wonderkid will benefit from a temporary switch to the Ibrox Stadium as he can flourish under the guidance of Gerrard and make a name for himself in Scottish football. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Wilson and whether he ends up at Rangers this summer.
