Rangers are hoping to secure the services of Swansea City defender Kyle Bartley this summer. According to recent reports, the Gers are keen on making a move for the English centre-back during this summer transfer period. It is believed that the Glaswegian giants are looking to strengthen their squad in this off-season under their new manager Steven Gerrard and Bartley fits the bill perfectly.
The 27-year-old has been a sporadic feature for the Swans during the course of last season with most of his appearances coming in the FA Cup. He suffered the agony of being relegated with the Welsh club which has thrown his future at the Liberty Stadium in doubt. Some sources are now claiming that the Teddy Bears are willing to provide him with an escape route out of Wales and are eager to recruit Bartley to bolster their defensive options going into the new campaign.
Bartley had featured in 12 matches for the Swans last season in all competitions. At 27, he still has his peak years ahead of him which the Gers could look to utilise in the coming years. The English defender has already played at the Ibrox Stadium before during his loan spell with the club back in 2011.
Gerrard’s side are in need to make some clever acquisitions in this ongoing transfer window so that they have a realistic chance of challenging Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title next term.
The addition of Bartley will definitely bolster Gerrard’s defensive options ahead of the new campaign. The Gers have the likes of David Bates, Bruno Alves and Ross McCrorie competing for a starting berth in their first-team. The potential acquisition of Bartley will undoubtedly improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within Gerrard’s squad.

The Swansea City defender will benefit from a switch to the Ibrox Stadium as he can flourish under the guidance of Gerrard and reignite his career in Scottish football. Bartley is extremely versatile and can play in a number of different positions across the backline. He primarily operates as a centre-back but can also be deployed as a right-back or as a defensive midfielder which makes him a perfect fit for the Teddy Bears. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Bartley and whether he ends up at the Ibrox Stadium this summer.
