Napoli are plotting a move for ex-Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti this summer. According to recent reports, the Serie A outfit are planning to bring in the Italian manager at the end of the season following the departure of their current manager Maurizio Sarri. The Naples-based side are on the lookout for a successor to Sarri and the former Chelsea boss, Ancelotti is high on their managerial shortlist.
Some sources are claiming that the 58-year-old manager is willing to listen to Napoli’s proposal after the Serie A team managed to challenge Juventus for the league title this season. The Italians had a tremendous campaign under Sarri this term but they are now looking to take the next step and challenge for major trophies in the coming years. It is believed that Napoli has identified Ancelotti as the ideal candidate to help them achieve their long-term objectives going into the new campaign.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are also on the lookout for a new manager who can succeed Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge. Recent reports have suggested that the West London side are looking to bring in the Napoli boss to turn their fortunes for the better next season. He has had a sensational campaign with the Italian team as they performed at a high level during the course of this season. However, the 59-year-old has failed to secure any major silverware at the Stadio San Paolo so far which will be a cause for concern.
The Blues of London finished their league campaign with a tally of 70 points after 38 league matches and narrowly missed out on UEFA Champions League football next season. The lack of Champions League will hamper their chances of acquiring a top manager like Sarri while also being a less desirable destination for all the top players in the world.
Hence, they should do all they can to acquire Sarri’s services as he has the potential to get the best out of the players at Chelsea while also having an in-depth knowledge on some of the hidden talents in Italian football which the Blues could look to target this summer. Sarri has taken charge of 147 matches for Napoli so far in his career, winning 97, drawing 25 and losing 25 of those matches with an eye-catching PPG (Points Per Game) average of 2.15.
