Manchester United are not willing to part ways with their French forward Anthony Martial this summer. According to recent reports, the Red Devils are hoping to retain the French youngster’s services beyond this summer amidst speculation linking him with a move away from Old Trafford.
It is believed that United boss Jose Mourinho is planning on using the French ace more often next season. The 22-year-old has still not put in a transfer request to leave the club and the Manchester outfit are not keen on selling players who don’t demand to be transferred. Some sources are now claiming that the Reds of Manchester are not ready to part ways with their prized asset during this summer transfer period.
Martial has put in a number of excellent performances during the course of last season. However, most of his appearances have come from the bench. The French international had featured in 45 matches for the Red Devils this season, scoring 11 goals while grabbing 9 assists in all competitions. At the mere age of 22, he has earned 18 international caps for the French national team and has one goal to his name so far. Martial, however, was excluded from the French squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup which kicks off in Russia next month.
United finished their league campaign as the runners-up in the English top tier but it was a nevertheless a frustrating season without silverware for them which will be a cause for concern for their fans. Hence, Mourinho should look to bring in some much-needed reinforcements in this summer window if his side are to challenge for major silverware in the upcoming campaign.
Retaining some of their top talents like Martial could go a long way in helping them close the gap to Manchester City in the title race next term. However, keeping a reportedly unhappy player could harm United’s chances of having a successful season next term.

Martial is quite versatile and can operate in a number of different positions across the frontline. He primarily plays on the left flank but can also be deployed on the right or as a centre-forward up top which makes him a perfect fit for Mourinho’s United. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Martial and whether he ends up making a switch out of Old Trafford this summer.
