Manchester United are reportedly eyeing up a summer move for Paris Saint-Germain winger, Neymar as a probable replacement for the troubled Marcus Rashford. Whether it will be an exact like-for-like replacement is something that needs to be debated upon since the latter is a sporadic option in the United squad and Neymar is the world’s most expensive player at the moment.
Nevertheless, Rashford’s unsettlement issues are bound to worry Jose Mourinho and the rest of the Red Devils ownership. The youngster is one of the most promising attackers in the country and was pegged to be the man to lead the club in the future.
Ever since Romelu Lukaku made his way over to Old Trafford from Everton, the 20-year-old’s cause for selection has been scarce. At first, he found refuge in the wing position but even that got hampered when Mourinho went out of his way to get Alexis Sanchez.
Now Rashford has to share his seasonal minutes with Anthony Martial or Jesse Lingard. These are not ideal circumstances in which a developing star like him can thrive in. Every young player’s greatest asset is regular playing time as evident from worldly superstars like Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
It would not be a shock if we see Rashford put on a different team’s jersey in the coming season, especially since Mourinho still holds the reins at Manchester.
Neymar’s arrival, on the other hand, is highly questionable. United might have the depth in their bank accounts yo acquire him but will PSG agree to the switch? The Brazilian’s contract is set to run for another 4 years and the Ligue 1 side have highly ambitious plans that they want to achieve with him in the squad.
Neymar’s debut season in the French capital has been of modest standards due to the unfortunate injury he suffered earlier in the year. His return is highly anticipated upon for the 2018 FIFA World Cup set to take place at Russia this June.
The international competition will not exactly lower his value by any means and United will have to scour up a fortune to even think about convincing the Parisians.
Neymar, himself has high-minded ambitions of his own. The sole reason for him to quit Barcelona last term might have been to escape Lionel Messi’s shadow. The winger wants to establish himself as the best in the world and to upstage his former teammate to the Ballon d’Or trophy.

United are no closer than PSG to guaranteeing the 26-year-old the European honour and other major trophies and hence the move will not make much sense to him as of now.
