Manchester United Player Ratings In Their Slender Defeat Vs Brighton: Rashford Gets 3/10!

Inconsistency and a lack of footballing identity has been annoying for the Manchester United fans and that irritation probably got fueled further as Brighton hosted them and defeated them. A lack-lustre attacking display without any accuracy saw Brighton take advantage and they got their goal from a counter through Pascal Gross’s header. United succumbed to the defeat without troubling Ryan at all. Here’s how they’ve been rated.

GK : David De Gea – 7/10

Made a solid save to deny Murray a brilliant goal but he couldn’t do anything as he conceded the goal and watched helplessly.

RB : Matteo Darmian – 4/10

Average and painful to watch. Hardly got forward and was troubled by Izquierdo.

CB : Chris Smalling – 7.5/10

Held his own against Murray and stood out in defence.

CB : Marcos Rojo – 6/10

Complimented Smalling well but that’s pretty much it. He just couldn’t get the clearance early to deny the goal for Gross.

LB : Ashley Young – 3/10

Nothing extraordinary. Young just couldn’t beat one defender. Horrible.

CM : Nemanja Matic – 6/10

Carried the ball on occasions and made a few interceptions but the team was poor as a whole.

CM : Marouane Fellaini – 3/10

What does he bring on the field for United? Wasteful and sloppy and dismally predictable.

CM – Paul Pogba – 3.5/10

Really frustrating with his passes as he was really rusty. His decision making was incredibly poor today and even though he moved the ball ahead nicely a lot of times, the end product was a huge disappointment.

LW : Anthony Martial – 4/10

Poor performance and he isn’t really convincing his manager if he plays like this.

ST : Marcus Rashford – 3/10

His performance showed what Manchester United miss without Romelu Lukaku.

RW : Juan Mata – 4/10

Mediocre just like the rest of his teammates.

Substitutes :-

LB : Luke Shaw – 6/10

Brought a little more sharpness down the left but that’s pretty much it.

FW : Jesse Lingard – 6/10

Same as Shaw. He quickened the proceedings and United will wish that they had brought him at half time.

CM : Scott McTominay – N/A
