Manchester United are set to part ways with their Dutch full-back Daley Blind this summer. According to recent reports, the Red Devils are set to sell their prized asset when the transfer window opens in the summer. Blind has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford this season and has hardly featured in Mourinho’s first-team.
The Dutch defender has only made three starts in the Premier League during this campaign and some sources are now claiming that he is wanted by Inter Milan and Roma. It is believed that United decided to trigger a one-year contract extension in Blind’s contract but the player wants a move to Italy in search of greener pastures and is ready to take a pay-cut to make it a reality.
Blind signed for the Red Devils from AFC Ajax in the summer of 2014 and has managed to win a UEFA Europa League title, an FA Cup and an English League Cup during his time at Old Trafford. However, the time is right for him to move on and open up another chapter of his life away from Manchester.
The Reds of Manchester are currently cruising in the English top-flight and have almost secured a top 2 finish in the league table this season. Jose Mourinho’s men have a healthy tally of 77 points with three games left to play in the current campaign.
Retaining some of their top players like Blind could go a long way in helping them bridge the gap between themselves and Manchester City in the coming years. However, the Special One has made it clear that he doesn’t fancy the Dutch international so a move out of Manchester this summer looks like the best option for all parties.

Blind can definitely benefit from playing football week in week out and boost his efforts to reignite his old form in a new destination. The Dutch defensive ace is highly versatile and can operate in a number of different positions across the pitch. The 28-year-old primarily plays as a left-back but can also feature in central defence or in a defensive midfield role which makes him an ideal asset for any of his potential suitors. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Blind and whether he ends up making a switch out of England in the near future.
