According to reports, Manchester United are looking to bring in 15-year-old Feyenoord centre-back Melayro Bogarde to Old Trafford. Apart from them, other English clubs have also offered the teenager a professional contract who can only sign it when he turns 16. He will be 16 on 28th May and that is why there is such a frenzy between clubs to bring home the talented Dutch teenager.
Manchester United are certainly looking at the future by thinking of bringing in Bogarde. He is already being touted to have a big future and other English clubs like Manchester City and Arsenal have also offered the young lad a contract to sign when he comes of age.
The reports suggest that Manchester City manager himself has taken an interest in bringing the centre-half to their club and he has invited Bogarde to Manchester City’s training facility and it is expected that Arsenal and Manchester United will follow suit. He is being considered as a prime talent as he seems to have every facet a good defender will need to succeed at the top level.
Bogarde has all the attributes that suggest he will have a big future at whichever club he joins. He is blessed with great physique and height and his ball-playing skills are also top notch. One doesn’t usually come across these combinations as we often see big defenders being sloppy and slow on the ball but this young talent from the Netherlands seems to be an exception.
United will certainly be looking to bolster their squad in the summer as they will try to close the gap between their derby rivals Manchester City who ran away with the Premier League title this term. United have been defensively solid for most parts of the season but that has been largely down to the fact that they have defended in numbers.
Individually, the likes of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones have been inconsistent and one doesn’t know which player might turn up on a particular day. Victor Lindelof has found it tough to get used to English football and Marcos Rojo has been out due to injuries most of the time. David De Gea has played a huge part in ensuring that the Red Devils keep their clean sheets and only standout centre back option they currently have is Eric Bailly.

Bogarde is certainly not a short-term answer to United’s defensive woes but in a few years, one might see him being a regular at Old Trafford. But that depends on the youngster as he has a good amount of options to choose from and decide which club he will take his career further with.
