Manchester United are lining up a move for FC Porto full-back Diogo Dalot this summer. According to recent reports, the Red Devils are preparing to make a move for the Portuguese youngster during this summer transfer period. It is believed that the Porto defender has a buy-out clause of £17.4m in his contract with the Portuguese giants which could pave the way for him to make a move out of Estádio do Dragão.
Some sources are claiming that Jose Mourinho’s side are set to complete a deal to bring the Braga-born right-back to Old Trafford in the summer. United boss Jose Mourinho is on the lookout for a new full-back who can compete with Antonio Valencia for a place in their first-team and Dalot fits the bill perfectly.
The Portuguese Under-21 international was able to break into Porto’s senior team earlier this year and also featured in their 0-0 Champions League draw versus Liverpool at Anfield. Dalot helped his nation, Portugal win the 2016 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, after scoring twice in five matches which includes his goal in the final versus Spain.
With Matteo Darmian set to be offloaded this summer, United will definitely benefit from acquiring someone of Dalot’s talents going into the new season.
Jose Mourinho’s team could not manage to bag a trophy last season so the Manchester outfit are in dire need to recruit some talented players in this ongoing window to help them in their quest to close the gap to Manchester City and challenge for major silverware next term.
The potential acquisition of Dalot will undoubtedly bolster their defensive options ahead of the new campaign. United have the likes of Matteo Darmian, Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young and Daley Blind vying for a place in Mourinho’s starting XI. The addition of Dalot will definitely improve their team and add more competition for places within the Red Devils squad.

The Braga-born defender had featured in 7 matches for Porto last season and has two assists to his name in all competitions. At the mere age of 19, Dalot has a massive potential and could flourish at Old Trafford if given the opportunity to showcase his talents regularly in Mourinho’s first-team in the next few years. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Dalot and whether he ends up plying his trade at Manchester next term.
