Manchester United are hoping to secure the services of Bayer 04 Leverkusen right-back Benjamin Henrichs this summer. According to recent reports, the Red Devils are keen on sealing a move for him when the transfer window opens in the summer. The 21-year-old can be considered as one of the hottest young talents in German football and has caught the eye with a number of impressive performances during the course of this campaign.
It is believed that Henrichs has a release clause of £31m in his contract with the German club which could be activated if Jose Mourinho’s side is serious about acquiring him at the end of the season. However, the Red Devils will face strong competition from Chelsea and Manchester City in pursuit of the Bundesliga starlet’s signature.
United could be on the lookout for a long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia and the young German full-back fits the bill perfectly. Henrichs has made 27 appearances for the Bundesliga club this season but is yet to register a goal so far. He has also managed to earn three international caps for the German national team at a mere of 21.
The Reds of Manchester are currently cruising in the top tier of English football and have almost sealed a top 2 finish in the league standings this season. Jose Mourinho’s side have managed to notch up a healthy tally of 77 points with three games remaining in this current campaign.
The addition of Henrichs will undoubtedly bolster Mourinho’s defensive options ahead of the new campaign. United have the likes of Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian vying for the right-back position in Mourinho’s first team. The potential acquisition of Henrichs will definitely improve their squad significantly and add more competition for places within the United team.

At 21, the Bundesliga youngster has already gained a lot of experience and has showcased his talents at the top level which United could look to utilise for years to come. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Henrichs and whether he ends up making a switch to Old Trafford this summer.
