Huddersfield Town are currently looking to continue their stint in the Premier League for another season, having scraped out a hard-fought draw against Chelsea in their last match at Stamford Bridge. They are currently standing on the 16th position in the league table and are looking forward to their next match against Arsenal on the last day of the season.
The West Yorkshire side were counted out by many of the pundits and they were expected to go down without a fight. However, David Wagner’s men have done a good job and the manager deserves a whole lot of credit because if one looks at their current squad, there are no players who particularly stand out.
However, Wagner will know that he will need a whole lot of reinforcements if they are to vie with the biggies of the English top flight and it seems that they are moving in for Manchester City‘s forgotten star, Yaya Toure.
The 34-year-old midfielder has been used sporadically since Pepe Guardiola has taken over and has managed just 16 appearances in all competitions this term. It is clear that Toure isn’t in Guardiola’s plan for the future and the Spanish tactician confirmed that the midfielder is set to leave the club at the end of the summer.
However, Huddersfield Town will not find it easy to lure him in as even at 34, Toure could be wanted by other top Premier League clubs. One of the clubs who is vying for his signature is Everton who can use some experience in their midfield.
Toure will certainly bring a lot of solidity and experience to a team like Huddersfield. However, his wages could be another barrier for the Terriers as at City, Toure is earning a six-figure salary weekly.

To lure him in, Wagner will need to promise him regular first team action and that could probably be his best bet. Toure is a versatile midfielder and can play in the role of a box to box midfielder, defensive midfielder or even as an attacking midfielder.
The Ivory Coast midfielder at 34 won’t be expected to play week in week out. However, he can be used as an impact substitute and his wealth of experience and winning mentality can certainly rub on with the current crop of Huddersfield players and help to develop them into better ones who can serve the club well in the long run.
