According to latest reports in the Spanish media, Pep Guardiola is extremely keen on bringing in Toni Kroos at the Etihad Stadium as he will look to mount a better and bigger challenge in all competitions next season. The German midfielder has previously played under him when the Spanish tactician was with Bayern Munich.
Kroos is one of the most important players for Real Madrid currently and it will take some serious persuasion from the Manchester City boss to reunite with his former player. It will be interesting to see whether Zinedine Zidane will let his midfielder leave if there is a substantial offer on the table.
The German is considered as one of the best central midfielders in the world currently and will probably walk into any team. It will be interesting to see where Guardiola will fit him into his playing eleven if he gets his man as he already has the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva who play in the central midfield role.
Apart from them, there seems to be an interest from the red side of Manchester as well. The German midfielder is set to play a crucial part again in this year’s World cup as they will be looking to defend their title in Russia.
Real Madrid are having an average season according to their standards and they could end up trophyless if they fail to beat Liverpool in the Champions League final. In such a case, there can be some wholesale exits and entry as the Galacticos have been relatively silent in the last few transfer windows. But even in such a scenario, one would expect Toni Kroos to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Manchester City, on the other hand, will be looking to build their prophecy further as they secured the domestic title with a record number of points this season. However, the coveted Champions League trophy has eluded them over the years and one expects the board and the manager to target that tournament to showcase their overall supremacy.

City currently has a plethora of talent at their disposal and they have world-class options in the central midfield role as well. One can understand their depth from the fact that a midfielder of Ilkay Gundogan’s calibre has been biding his time on the bench as the likes of Silva and De Bruyne have been untouchable this season. So bringing in Kroos doesn’t make much sense for Guardiola at the moment. This apparently seems like one of those far-fetched rumours and this deal doesn’t seem like it will go through in the end.
